This month's special guest is Danielle Holleran from Rhode Island! She runs her own hand lettering business and is absolutely killing the game! As she puts it in her Instagram bio she's always spreading positivity and you can honestly feel that the second you scroll through her page.
Danielle is 25 years old, married to her high school sweetheart and lives in small little Rhody. She started her business at the end of 2018, and runs her Etsy shop, rental business, and blog! She currently works full time as a CPA but is hoping to take Details and Swirls full time one day. She bases her business around her values of family, positivity, and bringing creativity and joy into every day life!
Ashley: What made you want to start this company to begin with? How long ago did you start?
Danielle: I came up with the idea to start Details and Swirls after my husband and I got married in September 2018. I have always been very creative, and loved making all of the signs for our wedding, so I decided to jump in and see if I could turn my love of creating into a business! After Details and Swirls was up and running, I was inspired to start my blog, Details and Danielle, as a spin off of my business to share more lifestyle content. The mix of the two is a dream job for me - I love everything about it!
Ashley: Is this your only profession? If not do you want it to be one day?
Danielle: No I actually work full time as a CPA tax accountant! I would love Details and Swirls to be my full time job one day, it is definitely something I am striving for! My accounting job is extremely demanding, so it can often times take a great deal of time away from creating and building my business. I am excited for the day when I have more time to devote to my business, and more time to spend with family!
Ashley: If you asked yourself 5 years ago that this is where you'd be would you believe it?! Danielle: No way! I always told myself one day I would own my own business, I just didn’t know what it was yet. I never could have imagined I would be able to run my own creative business out of my home that I whole heartedly love doing, it is like a dream!
Ashley: Where do you get your wood pieces / templates from?
Danielle: I actually hand cut, sand, and stain all of my wood pieces in my grandpa’s shed! I do not use any templates, every one of my pieces is created by hand!
Ashley: What can you tell those out there who are trying to start something but always find something holding them back?
Danielle: It is never the perfect time! There will always always always be a reason for you to not start. You have to put your doubts aside, be confident in yourself and your business, and take the leap!
Ashley: This may be hard to answer, but what's your favorite piece from your collection IF you had to choose?
Danielle: This is SO difficult, but I would have to say my gold mirrored rental pieces! I can create so many different designs with them, and I always love the outcome!
